The Dead. For me it's been years since Jerry and friends were a central part of my life. But they were, for a time, and I happened to own a high-end 35mm camera - a Canon F-1. So as the doors opened and my friends raced to the best seats, I raced to the floor, to claim a spot, and begin the endurance contest. Endurance, because if you needed to hit the restroom, or get some water, you lost your spot. But if you stayed, you earned the right to some great times... and great photos. Over the course of a few years I caught about 30+ shows, and photographed perhaps eight of them. But as the Dead started playing bigger venues I moved on.
